Better by Monday: Leadership for the Modern Workplace
Course Overview
Better by Monday is a practical leadership program for early- and mid-career professionals navigating burnout, hybrid work, multigenerational teams, flatter structures, and less predictable careers. Across three weekends, participants learn to Lead Self (self-awareness, emotional intelligence, energy and boundaries), Lead Others (influence without authority, managing up, feedback, psychological safety), and Lead What’s Next (career resilience, negotiating worth, and a personal leadership narrative). Between weekends, they try “Monday Moves,” small real-world experiments such as setting a boundary or holding an overdue feedback conversation, and debrief them with an accountability trio. Sessions blend evidence-based inputs, self-assessment, case discussions, role plays, simulations, and peer coaching, grounded in organizational behavior research and cross-sector experience in Pakistan. Every participant leaves having tested the tools at work and with a 90-day personal leadership plan.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Assess their own strengths, values, emotional triggers, and default working patterns using self-assessment tools and structured peer feedback.
- Apply energy and attention management techniques and establish professional boundaries that sustain both performance and well-being.
- Map stakeholders and apply ethical, evidence-based influence strategies to gain support for ideas without formal authority, including managing upward.
- Give and receive feedback using the Situation–Behavior–Impact (SBI) model and navigate difficult conversations across generations in ways that foster psychological safety.
- Apply principled negotiation techniques, including interests, options, and the Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement (BATNA), to workplace and career negotiations involving pay, roles, and flexibility.
- Develop a personal leadership narrative and a 90-day action plan grounded in workplace experiments conducted throughout the programme.
